Michel Langlois to Release Book on Journey in Tech Leadership

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / March 31, 2025 / Michel Langlois, former chief technology officer for Calix and an expert in networking and software development, will release his new book, "Beyond the Code: Unveiling the Human Factor in Technology Leadership Innovations," this spring.

Mr. Langlois's accomplishments and efforts earned him inclusion in the prestigious Marquis Who's Who listing of influential professionals in January. As he anticipates the release of his book, which explores his journey leading Silicon Valley software development organizations, he is also preparing to speak at a TEDx event on innovations.

A Strategic Thinker and Advocate

Throughout his four-decade career, Mr. Langlois distinguished himself with his opportunity-based approach and his advocacy for interconnecting companies, people and devices, along with a strong focus over the past decade on improved broadband access for low-income and rural individuals, as well as small companies.

He attributes his resilience and proclivity for strategic thinking in part to his own rural upbringing.

"I was born on a chicken farm. On a farm, when something breaks, you don't call somebody to fix it," Mr. Langlois said. "You own the problem, and therefore you have to fix it in a creative and diligent way."

A Prodigious Career of 40 Years

Prior to launching his career, Mr. Langlois obtained technical expertise by earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Universite de Sherbrooke in 1985.

From 1985 to 2024, Mr. Langlois enjoyed a prodigious career in the field of networking and software development. He held various senior and executive positions for notable companies, including Bell Northern Research, Eicon Technologies, Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks and Calix.

Accomplishments in Tech Development and Leadership

During his tenure at Cisco Systems, Mr. Langlois reached the notable achievement of expanding the Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS), which became the most widely deployed software in the networking industry to this day. This system, which he and his team built from the ground up during a period of rapid company growth, significantly fueled Cisco's revenue. The software continued to run successfully for 15 years after his departure.

While at Juniper Systems, Mr. Langlois contributed by transforming the engineering organization, re-engineering processes, addressing severe product quality concerns and laying a foundation for sustainable growth.

In his capacity as the chief development officer, then chief technology officer, at Calix, Mr. Langlois was tasked with transforming the networking system broadband product line and leapfrogging the deployed solutions to meet the increased demand for home network access into rural America, which reached a peak of demand during the COVID-19 pandemic. He successfully led the organization through this transition, resulting in a significant rise in valuation and customer adoption, setting up the company for further success in the years to come.

Mr. Langlois's contributions to the field of networking and software development have earned him various awards and honors, in addition to his inclusion in the Marquis Who's Who listing. He has been awarded multiple industry awards for Product/Innovation of the Year in the networking category by prestigious firms and he is a six-time winner of the Cisco Pioneer Award for Innovation.

Continuing Contributions to Tech and Leadership

In 2024, Mr. Langlois entered a new phase of his career after departing from Calix. He continues his contributions to his field as a writer, advocate, angel investor and corporate advisor. His upcoming book, "Beyond the Code: Unveiling the Human Factor in Technology Leadership Innovations," is a part memoir and part leadership guide for other tech professionals. Through it, he shares his experience, lessons learned, and insightful advice for current and next-generation leaders driving innovation during pivotal developments in technology in various stages of the company maturity cycle.

In his leadership style, Mr. Langlois emphasizes the role that emotional intelligence, mentorship and customer-centric thinking play in the success of building cohesive and resilient tech teams. He will further share his insights on tech leadership and developing innovation at an upcoming TEDx Talk in the Middle East.
