Booz Allen Convenes Experts to Discuss Future of Safe, Secure and Trustworthy AI

Nov. 6 event will connect public and private sector leaders to discuss ethics and security requirements for scaled federal AI adoption and deployment, building on framework of new AI Executive Order

Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH), the largest provider of AI-related services to the federal government, will host a timely dialogue on “The Age of Principled AI” on Monday, Nov. 6, in Washington, D.C., to further the discussion on protecting the promise and ensuring the safe, secure and responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI). The conversation follows the recent release of President Biden’s landmark Executive Order on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence.

“The executive order represents the most comprehensive action taken by the federal government to set the national policy for AI and brings coherence to this complex environment. With 200+ active AI projects within the U.S. government, Booz Allen is working with federal agencies to leverage the power of AI for national progress, security, and prosperity, while ensuring it doesn’t encroach on civil liberties or negatively impact cross-sections of society,” said John Larson, executive vice president and leader of Booz Allen’s AI practice. “When managed correctly, the promise of AI outweighs the risks, and we look forward to helping our clients assess and implement this new guidance.”

The executive order's focus on actions around cybersecurity, privacy, national security, innovation, and competition will advance the quality and safety of AI development in the United States. Achieving safer and more responsible AI requires diverse perspectives that represent the broader population that will shed light on potential risks and harms beyond any obvious prediction. Additionally, incorporating these differing perspectives will create dynamism we will see across the industry, as well as private and public applications,” said Alison Smith, Director of Generative AI at Booz Allen. “As AI leaders and startups design systems to be used with or on behalf of the federal government, they will need to get ahead of the safety measures and start thinking about embedding them early to enable more confident, secure, and risk-averse innovation moving forward.”

The discussion will bring together leading voices from government and industry to explore Al ethics and security with a specific focus on risk, responsibility, and federal use cases.

A media roundtable for invited press will follow.
