The Transload Group LLC Strongly Supports Union Pacific-Norfolk Southern Merger, Citing “Game-Changer” for U.S. Supply Chain

The Transload Group LLC, a leading provider of rail transloading and logistics services, today voiced its strong support for the announced merger between Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Corporation. The combination of these two freight rail giants will create the first truly transcontinental railroad in American history, connecting over 50,000 miles of track across 43 states from coast to coast.

The Transload Group believes this historic merger will transform the nation’s supply chain for the better. By uniting the eastern and western rail networks, the Union Pacific–Norfolk Southern merger promises to unlock faster, more seamless freight service for shippers large and small. Customers can expect single-line haul service from the Atlantic to the Pacific, eliminating costly interchange delays and reducing transit times by days on critical routes.

Chuck Marias, President of The Transload Group LLC, welcomed the news: “We are thrilled to see Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern join forces. This merger is a game-changer for the industry, creating a coast-to-coast railroad that will make shipping more efficient than ever,” said Marias. “For our customers, it means they’ll be able to move goods from one end of the country to the other on a single railroad, which translates to faster delivery and lower transportation costs. We’ve witnessed first-hand the power of combining truck and rail through our partnership with Norfolk Southern – our Chicago transload facility saw a 62% surge in volume after NS invested in it.

With these railroads united, we’re excited to see even greater opportunities to help businesses streamline their supply chains. The Transload Group fully supports this merger and urges its swift approval.”

As an operator of a major rail-truck transload hub in Chicago, The Transload Group LLC has directly partnered with Norfolk Southern to transfer freight between railcars and trucks, enabling flexible delivery for companies without direct rail access. Since that collaboration began, shipment volumes through the Chicago facility have climbed dramatically, demonstrating the demand for integrated rail solutions.

The Union Pacific–Norfolk Southern merger will extend such solutions nationwide, bridging East and West with a single rail system. The Transload Group is poised to leverage the expanded network to provide even more value to shippers – from steel and lumber producers to agricultural and consumer goods companies – by connecting them efficiently to the new coast-to-coast railroad.

The Transload Group LLC commends Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern for their vision and commitment to excellence. The company is confident the merged railroad will deliver superior service, spur innovation, and maintain the highest safety standards, all while preserving the good-paying rail jobs that underpin the industry. “Railroads have always been the backbone of America’s freight transportation,” Marias added. “This merger brings that backbone to its strongest form yet, and we’re proud to support it every step of the way.”
